What size enclosure for subwoofer

Postby bigpuss » Wed Aug 09, 2006 12:14 pm

I ended up picking up 2 Memphis 15-MC124D's to pair up with the 500 watt BASH plate amp. What size enclosure and what tuning/port area do you guys suggest I use? I was thinking about tuning around 25hz. I want to be able to have solid bass from 30hz up. Just as long as the slope isn't too steep.

Is this for music or HT? Either way tune lower than 25Hz. :)

I'll second that, especially if it's for HT. I've got 2 dual Tempest boxes tuned to around 18Hz and they're awesome for HT and music.

Can you contact Memphis for their recommendation? Seems like they should know better than anyone.

I come up with 5ft^3 net tuned to 22hz's. The port 25in^2 @ 26.5"s long. That gives a nice flat response down to 21hz's with mechanical ability down to about 17hz's with 400 watts. Should be a nice box for home.

Yeah, consider yourself lucky becuase none of the Memphis subs right now model that way.. Only acceptable ones are the M3 15 and the Mojo Series. Even those three dont model in an acceptable manner for home audio :/

Yup. The m3 15 and mojos can drop alright in proper boxes. But the rest rely on cabin gain for low end :meh:
