The time is near.. HT sub..

Gettin ready to build the Uber boxes..

Is it worth building them before room they'll end up in is finished? Should I wait till I can test in-room response & find hot spots?

2 Ubers, 2 Soundstream DA-2's (1kW each)

Output isn't going to be an issue, and I will have the eq, time delay & phasing abilities of the DCX2496 to tweak the sound..

Thinking about building the boxes to look like a stage to go under the screen.. but that puts the ubers front & center in the room & I'm not sure that's gonna be good for response in-room..

gah.. I dunno.. your thoughts?

It is better to wait . . . but... Yeah, I probably wouldn't/couldn't...

Why don't you work on the room first?

There's very little you can do with the enclosures anyway to deal with bass issues in the room... You will actually find that even the electronics processing will not do much to help you with room modes. Placing the subwoofers directly under your screen and close together will not be ideal.... Corners or (my preference) half way down opposing side walls will give you the best results. Having the subs in such a configuration will not sum their output very much, but they will start to even out 'hot spots' in the room, something the processing can't do.

I say, go ahead and build 'em!

Here in death's dominion
Where even shadows die
I am the one almighty
You will cry my name
And when you seek forgiveness
You will see there is no god
And for all eternity
You will cry my name

Build it. You can help room modes / response errors by moving furniture around, etc.
Would you like a half smoke to go with that ubberwoofer?

No cash to get that done at the moment.. already have what I need to build the subs.. I should get a 2nd job.. :cwm21:

I should get measurements on the room it's going in - but suffice it to say it's about twice as long as it is narrow.. I think it's too narrow to put subs along the sides, unless I build the boxes 20x6" and 7 feet tall and mount the subs at head-chunkin level..
