Pro-Sound Surround Processor

Postby 95Honda » Fri Sep 29, 2006 9:54 am

I am looking for a surround sound processor for a 1000 seat theater that has balanced outputs to run a bunch of pro audio amps. The speakers, subs and amps are already taken of, I just need to find a processor. If anyone has any good suugestions, let me know please. No real budget restrictions.

Do you need the DD/DTS/SDDS decoder, or the box with the EQ, channel monitor, amp signal routing and monitoring, etc.? Something like the QSC DCM-1/3?

I need a decoder. I have looked at the Dolby unit ($4700) and a few others, I'm trying to find the best deal and all around performance.

Ok. Let me ask around and see what the hottest thing on the block for cinemas right now.

D-Cinema is gaining a lot of momentum. That might be the way to go - and if you can live with the limitations it's a great option. For most theaters, I think the limitations aren't really that limiting compared with a traditional decoder.

I think I found what I want.. The Outlaw, it has balanced outputs... I had no idea, and it's like $1100. I think it will work fine.

I kind of steered away from the DTS-5 and Dolby because of the price vs. funtions... If the Outlaw doesn't work, I'll look into something else...
