Sub storage issue...repair solutions?

Postby John » Mon Jan 01, 2007 4:35 pm

Cone/suspension issue?

I have a sub (in a 3-way tower) that has been in storage for awhile.

The sub is definitely not blown, but I believe the packaging may have pressed/held the cone in unevenly on one side.

I remember someone having an issue similar to this way way back on this forum, but does anyone remember how to fix it?

Thanks!

light wights taped to the cone. Then hang it upside down to pull that part of the sub out.....or something like that.....I thinks.....

Every suspension problem I've ever had self corrected over time when stored in an opposing manner for a while... Or I would stretch out the suspension the opposite way with pressure from my fingers, and after some use it seemed to figure itself out.

Thanks for the replies...Figured it out prior though

The subs were facing upward in storage, nothing on top aside from packaging which was just to tight. I pulled the subs out, measured the differences between the good one and the other with a caliper. Added some weight (magnetically held to cone) and set it upside down for awhile. That made a noticeable difference, so I took the weights off and let it sit, seems to have done it. They play with no defect between the two that I can see or hear.
