Turbo Charger??? :D :D :D

Yes, actually that will help increase gas mileage...such as long as you keep your damned right foot off the floor... but that kinda defeats the purpose.

Kinda like getting a performance chip for my 1.8T Passat, 2-3 more miles per gallon on average, but the extra 40-50 HP negates even caring about gas mileage ;).

I heard on the John Tesh Radio Show that not passing people on roads like your local "strip" where eveyone cruises (any 6 lane 45 MPH kinda road) is a way to add up to 4 MPG not sure if it is true or not, but apparently he thinks it is:cwm21:

accually, you can improve mileage and power in 1 upgrade. Yes the fuel is burned, but more Air per combustion not only adds mileage but also power.

I like the "breathing through a straw" example...if you make it easier for your engine to breathe, you don't need to put your foot down so far. Cooler air = denser air = more power for a given throttle input. Back your foot out a bit and you'll be in good shape.

i hated the egr system, on the car i used to have my valve was messed up too so i took the entire thing off along with the charcoal canister, not sure if it did much for gasmilage or hp but once i got my intake manfold cleaned out it actually stayed fairly clean on the inside

Adding intake, Exaust Headers, Excetra will add Horse pwoer in most cases. thye may get a bit noiseier but it will add power, how these CAN add gas mileage is if they add power in the RPM range which your engine operates on a daily bassis and you dont accelerate any faster...if you are useing thoes extra horses then the engine is working just as hard as when it was having to make the car accelerate while breathing through a couple of bent straws...

EGR's are gay, i have a vacume leak in mine, its not affecting my MPG all that much (or if it is when i get it fixed i will be getting over 20mpg) but it is causing idle problems...its a vacume leak in the tube that controlls the vualve...sometimes it will idle at 2-3000 RPM and sometimes it will hit the rev limiter if yo uare not careful and it starts going wacky...in all reality they only help emisions, not power or MPG... damn califonia...

i wouldn't blame the EGR for your idling problem, more like your IAC motor.
