It all depends on how far you wanna go/how much money you really wanna spend.

a set of headers, mild cam, intake and a new carb woudl wake it up decently. Also in 1985 The cordoba/police vehicles had a special fast burn style heart shaped combustion chamber on the heads so if you could find a set of those woudl be worth your while :)

Currently in the family ther eis a 78 plymouth arrow with a 340 (11 second 1/4 passes)

intake, full exhaust including headers, new carb (you are carbed right?), M-1 (prolly a 4bbl), 180* thermostat/elc. fan, would be a good place to start... prolly soak up your budget pretty quick but would get some nice gains with out cracking open the engine really.

also what gears do you have? is it auto or manual?

yeah woudl be carbed for sure. I knwo on our car we had great performance out of the edelbrock carbs (currently a 750cfm on it)

we tried a holly 750, a demon 750 and the edlebrock and the ebelbrock proved the lowest times on back to back runs.. the others were very close but the edlebrock was the best performer and they aere SIMPLE to setup

but yeah all the baove owudl be a good start :) should be able to find most of the stuff (if you dont mind buying used stuff) for the $2000 range (cam, intake, carb, headers)
