AutoX and Stock ClassD

Postby NDGeist » Tue Dec 06, 2005 4:11 pm

Since I last posted here 11,000 years ago:
Traded in my POS kia for a Jetta Wolfsberg (sp)
Traded in jetta for a tacoma
Traded in Tacoma for an '02 wrx wagon.

Now comes the fun.

For starters, I'd like to compete in Stock class B in the '06 autocross season. here's my to-do list before march 1st.

1.) Got some ferodo DS2500 brake pads coming.
2.) Trying to decide between Azenis RT-615 in a 205/40R16 or Hankook R-S2 Z212 in a 225/50R16, 205/55R16 or 245/45R16. (stock is a 205/55R16) Leaning towards the 225/50ZR16
3.) Need to find a good short shift kit with bushings, my Jetta had a much nicer feeling shift pattern.

Assuming all goes well, the following year i'll probably go STX.
Uppipe
Turbo back exhaust
Accessport ECU flasher
suspension upgrade TBD

I've already got brake pads on order and i've got an extra set of 16x6.5 wheels. (another set of stocks)

What do you all think?

Sweet, are you going to be competing in the DMVR? I have a Kartboy short shifter and bushings in my Mazda. Great stuff, cheap too http://www.kartboy.com/subarushifters.html

I've seen some pretty fast STX WRX wagons before. If you are going to STX, maybe try to pick up some wider rims and fatter tires.

I can't wait for next season :D

yeah, i hope to do the DMVR as well as the waterloo ones.

I've got a few friends that race out there. Tresch, Erlandr, and Dave- 2 'ludes and a integra somethingorother.

Yeah, i'm noob so i'd like to start in stock. If i like it as i hope I will, i'll go with STX. Need to sell the motorcycle to pay for mods.. :) (Shut it, derek!)

I don't hurt anyMORE...

I don't see this as a reason to sell it. The jury is still deliberating.

sorry chip,
no stock class with shifter bushings or short shifter. thats a big no no.

Legal stock:
Shocks (not springs)
panel filter
cat back exhaust
dot approved race tires on same width wheels (going to a 16x6.5 instead of 16x6 is illegal)
thats about it.

215/50/16 is gonna be as close as you come to factory speedo reading, which isn't always important, but can be useful if you plan on driving these to/from events (changing tires at home is much nicer). Since pads are on order, why not take advantage of the brake rules and toss in some ATE Super Blue or similar hi perf brake fluid. Good time to bleed the brakes anyways.

What if i got the Subaru oem short shift kit? It's a factory option on the WRX..

Both the stock tires and the 225/50ZR16 tires are 811 revs/mile, so my speedo should stay accurate while still getting me more traction. the 245 tire is only 817revs/mile so it would only be off by 0.7%.

My stock wheels are 16.5, so i should be able to go with the 225 tire without too much issue (it's a 7" tire) but the 245's are 8" tires... so i'm thinking i'd have a little too much sidewall flex in that case.

factory option moves the class as well believe it or not. this was a source of contention upon announcement of that kit, was weighed to be non stock.
