will kill all the power to the truck? Explain...

Well, in order to help for a good start we'll need to know if it is factory or aftermarket and what is the vehicle?

no headlights, interior lights, radio...

its a '98 tahoe and would be an aftermarket remote starter

next step...find out what the starter is, location, wiring, etc...

Seriously though, I'd try to identify and fix the problem first...rather than just removal. I'd probably be more inclined to have someone else do the work if you're not sure of what to do to it...

Find the brain and disconnect it.

Should be all that is required to uninstall it. If you wanted to be fussy you can follow all the wires and remove them all one by one - the biggest pain you may run into is starter kill, which you'll know for certain if your starter wire is cut in half.

Make sure the battery is disconnected before you start this process.

cold solder/connection at the power wire of the remote start brain lead.
find it........
probably a Pink 10awg wire near the/or at the stearing column ....may not be a good connection....reconnect........SOLID.....like....take all 3 leads and solder and crimp and tape.....like your friggin life depends on it....(cause it does) ...that may do it.
