Viewing angle of led taillight bulbs?

Postby John » Fri Aug 11, 2006 8:07 am

If covered by a red (or any translucent colored) lens, is it better to setup/install an led cluster with a wide viewing angle, narrow, or does it make any difference?

I am just wondering, especially in a lens that disapates the light from a regular bulb which has a wide viewing angle.

I am thinking that it would make much of a difference really if covered...have not tested that hypothesis yet though...

i may be wrong but i thought led were more viewable (or brighter) when the point right at you , i would spread them out if you can, but for tailights the led would only be seen from right behind you , not from the side.....:)

Depends on the led (but that is the general idea), and in this case I was talking primarily about clusters...
