Raw USB flash drives...what to do with them...

Postby John » Sat May 05, 2007 3:07 pm

I've got four small raw usb 2Gb flash drives I was wondering what I should use to enclose them.

If I could buy something, that would be easy enough. Some fiberglass like resin and hardner mixture would be quick and easy...but I don't know. I'd like to make a mold an just pour something over them, that way I could mold something so I could put them on the work keys easily.

I was thinking about just machining something out of plastic or even metal, but plastic is a pain and for metal I'd almost have to isolate it...although some brass may work...hmm...

Any suggestions?

Also, since I want to use them for work and they're not encoded / password protected (although most of the stuff saved would be anyway)...Is they're any universal little program I can install on them to achieve this?

And Shepherds we shall be, for Thee my lord for Thee.
Power hath descended forth from Thy hand,
that our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command.
So we shall flow a river forth to Thee,
and teeming with souls shall it ever be.
In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti.

You could pour casting resin into a mold and over the drive, similar to insects you see incased in acrylic.

That's cooler than a subwoofer enclosure made out of legos.

haha, to the right people, those would be big sellers.

I can see it now, recharge your pocket rocket AND view your files on your computer at the same time!

So I just tried the hot glue idea last night...Pretty friggin cool. Put it in a small enclosure, spray with cooking spray, and start a filling up the enclosure. You don't even have to fill just super fast. It is pretty much indestructable now...only problem I can see having is if I ever want to take it apart...
