anyone know the power rating for this amp. Its either 800x1 at 1/2 ohm or 800x2 at 1/2 ohm. Its being debated here. A guy I know bought one and we get both rating from like 4 different places. They dont have it on their web site.
thanks

That amp remains unchanged from the early 90's (as far as I know anyway). It was always rated 1/4 ohm stable and 400 x 2 @ 1/4 ohm. So, 800 x 1 @ 1/2 ohm should be correct.

Yes, this is correct. 800 x 1 @ 1/2 ohm. Words to the wise-- if you plan on running that low of an impedance, you must use huge wire to deliver the current it requires. Also, a couple of fans are recommended as that amp will get seriously warm running that load. I knew the national tech director for them, and he said that the Opti's were great so long as the ground was checked before the amp was hooked up. That said, before you plant it, make sure that the ground has a resistance of less than .75 ohm. This is crucial to the operation of the Opti circuitry inside. If the ground is horked up, you won't get anywhere near the power that that amp can deliver. Hope it helps.
