What size and tuning for a Brahma?

Postby seight311 » Tue Jul 31, 2007 9:24 pm

Bought one off eBay the other day, pretty cheap in my opinion, $125.

Anyway, since I cant get ahold of Adire and I have no idea as far as what to calculate with TS parameters and all that if someone could help me out I appriciate it!

12" Brahma, 2 Ohm DVC, going to be powering it with an eD NINe.1 going into an 03 Lincoln LS. Would also like the box to not be too ourageously big because I plan on purchasing an eD 13AV2 when they come out at the end of the year and I would like to use the same enclosure. Since the 13A will not need a quite as big enclosure.

If someone could tell me my size and tuning for what else I have that would be great!

Thanks!

Also if anyone has an opinion on the eD NINe.1, let me know. Anything else out there for around $300 comparable? Also im not going eBay for my amp, I want new. Thanks

i liked my 12 in 1 cube sealed....if the low end is not enough....go bigger...or just add some polyfill...

It depends what version it is but here is a cached page showing the MkIV parameters as well as recommended box sizes. Most of the Brahmas were close so if you use those box recommendations you'll be fine.

when I was setting up my Brahma for SQ I spoke to Adire about the best box for detail and that also allowed maximum excursion. Dan Wiggins told me that with my first setup that had a JL 500/1 powering my Brahma that a 1.7Cu.Ft. box would work best. It sounded great and could also play loud. When I moved to a JL 1000/1 Dan advised me to use a 1.0Cu.Ft. box and with the added power and smaller box I got much better detail with even better SPL. Your box should be based on the power you have to allow maximum excursion (if your going sealed) but still maintain a high level of SQ.

My current configuration is a Brahma 12" in a 1cu.ft. sealed box powered by a JL 1000/1 amp.

Hope this helps,
Bob

Whoa! old thread!

1cuft sealed (sounds like heaven)
2.5-4cuft @ 30-40hz for ported
for all around street banging without sounding like complete pooh... go for around 3cuft @ 35h, oh... and use around 20-30sq In of port if you can.
