Speaker suggestions

Postby brianhalv » Tue Apr 01, 2008 11:11 pm

I have a 2000 ford zx2. Everything in it is stock right now. I don't want to get subs because I need all the trunk room for college. I do want some good sound in my car though. I only have about $200-400 to spend and I would need everything but a head unit. Suggestions?

Depends how "good" you want the sound to be. Would you be open to the possibility of running an amplifier for the highs? Or do you plan to run everything off a HU? And if so, what kind of HU do or will you run?

I say a $200 set of comps, a $150 amp, and wire. Call it a day. :)

That is my non-technical answer. My Technical answer is the same as re-Todd's.

Thanks Jamie! I haven't heard that name since seventh grade summer marching band!

I have a Pioneer Premier HU. I would just assume get a small amp, though.

Well if you get an amp, do what Jamie said. Not sure what comps you can get for 200 bucks but I'll keep my eyes open. There are deals out there. My buddy just picked up some older Adire Koda Comps for 200 bucks. Suppose to be here today! Install them this Saturday hopefully.

Are there any local shops in your are? If so what brands do they carry? Local shops usually have some reputable brands with products that will match your budget.

There is a radioshack in my town, but that's about all. The closest car audio store is about 70 miles away. The **** they have at radioshack is wayyyy over-priced, so I think ordering online is the best option.

I hate to say it, but eBay and Craigslist will be your friend for this. You can also scour forums to see if anyone has some for sell.
