I've been considering replacing the P98R in my truck recently. When I went to the Pioneer website and saw they now offered Bluetooth, I was intrigued. So I went to Car Toys, Ultimate Electronics, and Best Buy yesterday to check out the BT feature. Well, not only does no one know anything about the BT on the Pioneer(or anyone else's) units, but we couldn't get my phone(LG Muziq) to properly sync up with the unit.
The only reason I would go BT, is so my phone can stream MP3s to the head unit. Does anyone have any knowledge on this? I don't have any reason to go higher than a 400/4000 if BT isn't going to work for me, but the P98R is still doing its job.
On a side note, did something happen to the forum awhile back? I tried to get here, and couldn't find the forum!

I was under the impression the BT units were 'bluetooth capable' with an add on module, and the purpose of it was to use it as a hands free device.

There are 2 types of units. Those ending with BT have the capability built in, and those ending with UB require an add-on module(list of $180). So it seems more worthwhile to get a 7 series or higher, since a 4-6 series + module is about the same price.
But they say they support A2DP, which is what my phone uses to pipe the music to stereo headphones and the like, though I have not actually done this yet.
And I had a guy local to me reply on the ID forums, so I'm going to go check out his 9800BT unit. Hopefully it works, and if it does, he is going to sell me the unit at a good price(Or so he says). So I'll see tonight, and report back my findings.
