this what another guy told me...

I used to build at least 1 of those cars a week (on average) for about 3 years. I've done everything from a single 10 to 4 15's to 8 12's in those. I know exactly what is gonna happen if you try fitting as much cone area as possible. You want DISPLACEMENT, not cone area. Often more cone area till have more displacement, but not always. You need breathing room and a properly designed and built box will always reign over more cone area.
If you want loud and big, you need at least a double layer box, no exceptions. That's gonna eat up volume too. I'm still thinking a pair of good 12's in a good box. There's nothing I love more than somebody showing off their big system and getting taken to school by somebody with 1/4 of the equipment.

I am sure that Nick at IA would have something to offer up at the price point you are looking at. RE and Fi are others that come to mind.

depends what you mean by "ground pounder". Just loud? or low and loud.

Either way it is all install dependent. You can get loud without having massive amounts of cone area, but cone area and displacement help.
There he goes, one of god's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live... too rare to die.

Try 2 Dual 2 ohm coil Fi BTL 12's off of an IA 40.1 if that's the amp you want. I do believe it's capable of about 4000 watts at 2 ohms, and the btl's are rated for 2000 watts a piece.

Fi BTL 12's - $389.00 each (x2)
IA 40.1 - $700.00 (according to you)

total: $1478.00 plus tax. This leaves you with ~ $1500 to get an upgraded alternator, battery(ies), wiring, upgraded big 3...
