New car, new decisions

Postby TalNLnky » Thu Jun 05, 2008 7:02 pm

08 toyota yaris hatchback

was planning on just integrating my previous setup to the oem head unit. OEM unit is ****ing me off tho... has issues with cd's from time to time, and the sound cut out of the right side for a few seconds today... i dunno... prolly could get it replaced for free, but why bother with that when i've already got a DenonFord deck that I loved. The main difference between the stock and denon, is that the denon doesn't have an Ipod input/aux in.

So... in the name of saving money, and not having to deal with the hassel of the stock deck crapping out on me.

Denon deck -> AudioControl EQT's -> AudioControl 2xs (split mid bass from highs) -> amps (200x2 & 80x2)

80x2 amp -> passive xover to split CSS wr4.5's & tweet
200x2 amp -> Adire Koda 8's

goal is for an amazing full range sound installed up front... no subs, no rear fill, no sound coming from anywhere except from in front of me.

Now, I figure I can just make a switch inbetween the EQT and 2XS which will chose whether I want to use the Deck's signal, or an Ipod's signal... All i'd have to do is use RCA splitters at the 2xs and then run an extra pair of rca's back to the swtich, and then rig the ipod up near the dash/center console. Souldn't be too hard.

This will give me my ipod with out FM modulation, and will also save me at around $100-300 in Line output converters.

any comments? especially if you know of any easy ways to add an aux/raca/miniplug input into a setup?.

I don't know of easy ways unfortunately. I was just wondering how you were going to fit all that cool stuff up front in that little car!? Are the doors big/deep enough?

well, only the drivers are going up front. Amps/eq's/x'overs and such all in the back. But.. yeah.. My buddy Robert... JBLGEO on here, he and his budy have done a few installs with 8's, 3's, and tweet in the yota yaris... and they love it... they put the 8's in the doors and just mat the thing like crazy... I'm not big on doing 8's in doors without boxes.. but if they say it works... well... i'll trust them on it.

the CSS WR 4's and the tweet will end up in pods on the dash... the car has a fairly deep dash.
