It really depends on how much power you give them... that sub is REALLY limited by its mechanical parts. Thing bottoms out really easy if you aren't careful. Sub would be SOOO much easier to design boxes for if there was twice the magnet height thus making it harder to bottom out. I remember hooking a friend up with 2 of those and doing SPL burps on them at a local comp once. He was stupid, didn't play the sine wave I told him to and bottomed 1 of them out REALLY bad. That was about 5hz above tuning with 300rms each. Had he just played right at tuning, we would've been able to burp a 2nd time with 600rms each.

Subs take lots of power thermally.... its just that the suspension is either too lose, or there needs to be more clearance fore the voice coil to move.

IIRC it likes boxes around .5 - .75 cuft tuned to 30-35hz.
Can never go wrong with sealed boxes either. .3 - .5cuft sealed.

.5 @ 30-35 per sub

Yep, I have built 3-4 boxes with dual RE8s, all were 1ft3 @32Hz, they worked great. Anything more than 200watts for the pair is overkill...

Listen guys i appreciate the input ,but i require port dimension s to go with the box volume .

Im a real novice to bass box desighn ing .

so max details would be apreciated.

I have a Kicker zr600 or zr240 to play with for these subs .

Thanks for all the replys .

The ZR240 is plenty of power for a pair of RE8's.

You can use WinISD to calculate port length. Port length is based on port area...I suggest a good bit of port area for them--I typically try to do 1/3 of total cone area as port area.

a single 4" flared aero port will be fine.... or if you do a slot port... aim for at least 12-16sq in of port.

I think I did 4"x2" (8 in^2) per sub on my TangBand 8's...made for a pretty big port setup. I really wish I had done 12" per driver.

Thanks for the input guys ,will be back with a calculated port size .
So let me know if it sounds about right .
