need some neon/LED
Posted: Tue Sep 16, 2008 12:56 pm
I want to backlight a piece of plexi I'm incorporating into my latest box which will have the XXX logo tinted on it but I can't find any of those flexible tubes of LED/neon to wrap around the piece of plexi....mainly cause I've never ever looked into this though so I just don't know where to look...it needs to be for 120v application though as it is for the HT...any help to point me in the right direction would be much appreciated! thanks

You probably won't find a 120v application. Just use a stepdown transformer to 12v dc, and you can probably find what you're looking for at http://www.superbrightleds.com/light_bars-flexible.html

Ah that seems to have everything....except a "jumper cable" for the flexible strips?? All I saw are jumper cables for the non-flexible strips...am I missing something?

I haven't looked that closely...so I'm not sure.

Will do! Although I've decided, due to cost being a bit higher than anticipated, that I'm going to wait on the neon until I finish the rest of the box and hear it. If it is as loud and low as I like THEN i will proceed with the neon and carpet or vinyl or something to pretty it up.....

well leds ccan be a good choice, you just have to use the right kind. im in the sign business and we have all types of leds, it wont take much to get the output i think your looking for.

Why not use a power adapter to increase your voltage flexibility?
I would pre-drill holes in the edge of the plexi, and insert individual LED's into the holes. Just me.
