XXX Components vs.

Postby subfrontier » Mon Sep 22, 2008 10:38 pm

I am considering a set of the DDA-W components or a set of RE XXX components. I have not heard either one and right now I am using Boston SX60's. I have a Lunar L2125, 125 watts per channel at 4ohm stereo, 245 watts at 2ohm stereo, 285 watts per channel at 1ohm stereo. I was considering the XXX because they are 2ohm but I am not sure if they will handle 245 watts per side. What are yall thoughts on the DDA-W speakers, how are they on power handling? I also have another Lunar amp that I could power the tweeters and the other amp for the mids, I am not sure if it is worth doing that. I am not that familiar with SQ setups so I am need of some help. Also my head unit is a Alpine 9887, 08 Chevrolet Silverado ext. cab. thanks for any suggestions.

I have messed around with the first generation of XXX comps, those things were sweet.

Power handling is about the last thing you should look at when buying speakers. Plus it's ok if the XXXs can't handle 245 watts, you can just dial the gain down to get less power to them.

Thanks for the replys, I have also considered a set of Planet Audio Big Bang components. The Planet Audio speakers sound good, mid-bass is very strong but I am not sure they are in the same league as the XXX.
