4-6 months

Postby rthompson » Sun Apr 29, 2007 9:22 am

I took a test in February for a CBPO position (customs and border protection officer), and i scored quite well (97), it took 9 weeks to recieve the paperwork to do a background check, and in the paperwork it says it could take 4-6 months to find out if the background check was satisfactory and i can go on to the next step, or 9-12 months if there is anything that does not check out perfectly but i still qualify to go on to the next step.

This job better be worth the hassle and the background check paperwork. It seems that everyone that works at the local border crossings likes the job a lot, so i am hopeful i get one of the local positions!!!

Yeah, they're great jobs because you get to shake down innocent people, interrogate them for hours for the least amount of probable cause, toss their vacation-packed vehicles and leave them to clean up the mess you leave. Excellent job indeed. :)

I can only imagine how many drug smugglers get caught... and how many patrol officers are corrupt...

yeah, i don't think i could ever do a job like that.

I've got a friend who took 1 year to get offered a job once he had an interview with Homeland Sexcurity. Gov = slow and inefficient.

Nice typo...:cwm11:

Oh I know a little about that, I'm up for a gov job with one department, could end up in a few different areas right now...that sounded odd...anyway it takes them forever.

It's one of those things you have to apply for, keep going to their little meetings or what not, and fill out paperwork for. You must never expect to get a call, don't wait for it, and don't get your hopes...It will probably take months if your lucky, and it can be more...easily. It helps though that I really don't care too much, it's on call / temp work that would be nice to have.
