yup - the horns are definitely good down to 1000hz, maybe a bit lower. The 8's are good up to 1000-1500hz iirc. should leave me a good amount of room to tweak x-over points.

Started getting the midbasses in this morning. It's gonna be cake to physically get them in the doors. Making the door panels fit is gonna be the fun part :) Gotta go run some errands w/ the g/f in a bit, but then she's got a baby shower so I'll probably either get the baffles cut then, or do some more work on the horns. Deadening will probably start monday when I can actually yank my door completely apart for a few hours.

old speaker on the drivers side:

if i sacraficed rolling down my windows, they'd fit perfectly behind the doors
Image

Here's how much they stick out with the window down. Not too bad - might need a 3/4" spacer, or maybe two 5/8" ones.
Image

just had to cut the tip of the corner off for more clearance. Busted out the hammer and dolly to roll the edge back around to stiffen it back up
Image

I traced the metal adaptor plate my old speakers were mounted to onto some cardboard to make a template for my baffles. I added some extra to the top back edge. I figure mounting the midbasses to as much MDF as I can will help with vibrations.

Passengers door - don't you love mis-matched speakers, especially when one's a 1ohm speaker and the other's a 4ohms :p talk about a piss-poor stage

all I had to cut from the doors:

3.5" If I found something with a ~3" depth, the doors would be able to stay intact.

back out to do something.

Well 3.5" isnt bad, I knew they looked pretty shallow, lol. I see, how much trouble is cutting the door panel out gonna give you to make room for the speaker sticking out with the spacer? Good luck with the doing something, lmao

got one door almost deadened today. 3 layers of damplifier on the outer skin behind the speaker opening(~ the first 12" of the door), 2 layers on the rest of the outer skin. One layer on most of the inner skin, and I still have about 3sq ft left. After I put down the overkill on the inner skin, I'll seal up the 3 holes in the back of the door, finish the inner skin, then put a layer of overkill on the inner skin. Then the passengers side door get's done :)

half of the damplifier laying out in the sun to soften up. This stuff is sticky!

Damplifier is a damn good product, worked well when I used it...

You going to do a layer of liquid stuffs after that is all done or you figure you've got it down?

I did 4 layers + a coating of liquid on the wife's 300m doors. (2 + liquid on the outer, 2 on the inner.)
Yo.
