No xtc baffles, but there WILL be something in there to keep everything dry.

oh yea - good new :) door panel fits back on with minimal modification, and the help of a few spacers to keep the panel off the speaker :)

black300zx wrote::cwm12: did you miss the top of this page and the page before? There's 40 sq ft of damplifier split between the two doors, and 24 sq ft of overkill split between them. The outer skins have 2 solid layers, with a third behind the speaker. Inner skins have 2 layers.

When I say skin I mean door panel? You know the part you have to take off to get to the actual door.

Time and patience can yield great things, but projects often require money which unfortunately all to often require time to earn...:cwm19:

See...I'd rather start a 'new' old vehicle project than work on the ones we already have, I especially don't want to work on my daily pos, and I want a motorcycle. For any of those things...Have it yet I don't want to spend the money, therefore my time goes to work...Sad cycle...

ahhh - when I hear "door skin", I think of the outer part of the door, as in the part that gets painted. I've always referred to the part you're talking about as the door panel. The door panel will get done with the remains of the overkill, and possibly some burber padding I have if it's needed.

well here's some pics of the mids with the door hung. the panel isn't actually back on yet, since I need to seal up a couple gaps still (as well as make a baffle for the mids to deflect water).

two notches on the back of the panel for clearance:

clearance with the notches, but without the spacers (there's more clearance now):

a couple spacers to hold the door panel out a bit:

the mid peeking out:

just enough clearance:

well tonight after going to a chinese buffet, my g/f and her friend went into a girls clothing store, so I finally sat down and started tweaking the eq. Everything is really starting to come together now. Another week or so and I should get the eq set pretty good. Basically, I suck with parametric eq's, so I'm using the amp's x-overs, and leaving the deck in regular mode so I can use the 13 band graphic eq. This should get me a good idea of what areas need boosting/cutting, which will make life easier with the parametric. After I get it nailed out how I like it, I'm gonna switch to pro-mode and try to get the parametric eq to duplicate what I had with the graphic.

As for staging, I'm pretty happy right now, and with minor tweaking I think I've got a great starting point. The range that the horns are playing stage very well, it's just the midbasses that are spearing the images. You can tell, for instance, that some upper vocals are centered at the rearview mirror, but the lower vocals that the mids are handling are a few inches left. A little delay on the drivers mid should fix that.
